Description

It’s a joy and a bit of a magic show to feature chef Brad Briske in the Pop-Up Breakfast Series. We just can’t stay away from his untamed approach to cooking and plating up dishes that speak to all that is in season, animal and savory. He’s cooked with us since the beginning of this series in 2014 and appears in the line up frequently.

Briske has cooked all over the Greater Bay Area, from San Francisco to Carmel, with his true love and home place being Santa Cruz County. He and his partner Linda Ritten run Home Restaurant in Soquel and share a love for the uber local, always using what farms are selling as the starting point of a meal. Ritten also ran the Scotts Valley and Felton markets years back and has sold Home charcuterie, fresh pastas, sauces and soups under the name Home Away From Home in the market circuit over the past five years. Their three children have grown up as central figures in the community. I still remember Lola, now 14, strapped on Linda as she threw up tents and umbrellas and brought the Scotts Valley Market to life many Saturday mornings. Then there was Inca and now Sonora, under two.

When we ask Briske to join us at one of these breakfasts we know it will be delicious, filling, edgy and thrilling. Surrender! It’s never predictable and always an adventure. Welcome back Brad!
