July 11 Pop-Up Breakfast Tickets

Price range: $80.00 through $150.00

Featured often over the years at the pop-up breakfasts, Katherine Stern is drawn to seasonal gems and the everyday essentials that are found at the farmers’ markets. After a decade as the head chef at La Posta, a small beloved Italian restaurant in the Seabright neighborhood, Stern launched The Midway, serving creative fruit and vegetable forward meals at the Westside and Live Oak markets. She then launched a one-year stay at Bad Animal in Downtown SC and now has made a long-term brick-and-mortar home in an incredibly charming location neighboring the Rio Center. The Midway has come to life in the old Bee’s Coffee Cup diner, later Oyunaa’s Mongolian Cuisine. It’s a dream come true.

Unique wholesome dishes like savory grain porridge, local chanterelles and fried nettle or Fogline Farm pork belly, shelling beans and cabbage-kraut slaw have gained her a dedicated following. We bump into her every week at the Downtown Market and know that her eyes is trained for what is both newly in season and a stellar combination of flavors. Her beginnings: years ago on a backpacking trip in Europe she fell in love with Italy and extended her stay to learn more about agriculture and cooking. Between picking grapes and spending time in kitchens, her love for the culinary arts was cemented. Join us for this special meal.

At the Pop-Up Breakfasts support our circuit of farmers’ markets and help us deepen and continue our work while celebrating what is in season and grown by many skilled hands.
