Description

In this series we work to bring in chefs that are farmers’ market driven, fierce about food and invested in community work. In 2024 we are truly pleased to host chef Emily Beggs of Kin and Kitchen for the first time. Beggs is an exceptional cook and someone particularly inspired by the land, river, Bay and natural features that we move through and depend upon where we live.

Beggs has been a friend to the markets for well over a decade and runs Kin and Kitchen, a food business specializing in what they call “Mexiterranean cuisine, a reference to ancestry and to a shared ethos of conviviality and nature-based feasting that brings the wild and the cultivated together on the plate”. Imagine the native nettle, the elderberry, salty kelp and the curve of this coast all intertwined in a meal at a shared table where you are seated. Here Beggs and the team prepare dishes with the same love they bring to nourishing their families, “we aim to harmonize hospitality, health, and reverence for the earth” she shares. Also a writer, witness her work here in an award winning piece she did for Edible Monterey Bay in 2023, spotlighting the late Windmill Farm.

At the Pop-Up Breakfasts support our circuit of farmers’ markets and help us deepen and continue our work while celebrating what is in season and grown by many skilled hands.
